Sheffield United v Derby County - 1st September 1897

The following is a copy of the programme for the above game that was played at Bramall Lane, Sheffield on 1st September 1897. It's significance is twofold. Firstly it was the first game of the 1897 - 1898 season, a season that culminated in the Blades winning their only (to date) League Championship. And secondly it was the first time Sheffield United issued a programme for a match.

Details of the game are sketchy to say the least. The Blades won 2 - 1 in front of a crowd of only 2,500. The reason given for the low attendance was the weather  - it bucketed it down all day!
